The city of Milan offers a wide range of housing options. UCSC may have some rooms available on campus but these are very limited and cannot be guaranteed. Students wanting to live in rooms/apartments can check the university housing announcement board or find them through the international student associations ESEG or ESN.

IMPORTANT: Many apartments or rooms you may find through local newspapers or online announcement boards such as craig's list are not rent controlled and are without legal rental contracts. It is advised to always request a legal rental contract to ensure the liability of the renter or owner of the property you rent from. In case of damage, theft, or any safety issues, the renter is not liable unless you are protected by a legal rental contract. The university declines any responsibility for students who decide to accept a rental without a proper rental contract.

International students attending UCSC, whether their housing is guaranteed or not by the exchange agreement between their sending institution and UCSC, may select the housing option through Milano International Living Service (MIL) located in the IRO building at Via Carducci, 28/30. If your exchange program or agreement offers this accommodation service, the cost will be included in your total program costs. The apartments provided through MIL Service include wireless Internet connections, utilities (water and electricity), cleaning service, basic cable television, and are fully furnished including extra amenities such as a DVD player, television set, and kitchenware. For those students whose programs do not include this housing option, MIL Service may still be able to provide arrangements depending on the availability of apartments.

ESEG
Dear students,

Starting life in a new country and speaking a different language is a challenging experience for everyone and that's why we are here to help. ESEG members use their enthusiasm, knowledge and personal experience from their study abroad programs to make your exchange experience in Milano as easy and enjoyable as possible.

ESEG is designed to promote cultural integration between foreign and local students. The goal of our association is to make every student feel welcome upon their arrival in Milano, help them adapt quickly into their host university as well as solve any problems. Furthermore ESEG aims to provide as many opportunities academically, socially and personally which is successfully achieved through activities organized by the friendly staff members.

Dear Student,

Thinking of studying abroad and enriching your life? ESN is your partner, as stated above we will give you a hand in finding your way in your new "home" city!
We are a group of volunteers and close friends with different skills and interests but with a common aim: to make your stay in Milan as pleasant, useful and amazing as possible. And we try to achieve it through a number of activities.

Yet life in ESN isn't all work, and after the lessons it can be a lot of fun. We organize cultural day-trips to surrounding towns and exhibits, and sometimes we get away for the whole week-end. We play friendly soccer matches every week or so, and can put you in contact with teams of other kind of sports in which you might be interested.

We are looking forward to meeting you in Milan.
